Dr. James C. Howell
Hi! Since 2003 I've served as one of the pastors at Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte. I also teach fairly regularly as an adjunct professor of preaching and leadership at Duke Divinity School. I try to stay as engaged as possible in community and social justice activities.
This web site offers to you a lot of my "stuff" on various topics: email series I send, books, blogs, sermons, talks and more. Some of this web site is geared toward clergy to help them in their ministry, preaching, etc., and then more is for just people of all kinds. I hope you can find things here to help you.
My wife Lisa and I were married at Myers Park church in 1986. She was an undergrad at Duke, then earned her MSW at Tulane. She's worked in the non-profit sector, primarily addressing poverty and homelessness, and is an advocate for educational equity. We have 3 children. Sarah is a pastor at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. Grace has taught in the arts program at UMAR, a Methodist agency for adults with learning and physical challenges. Noah is an undergraduate at UNC-Chapel Hill.
